1972-2005, graphite on polyurethane resin, 32" high

This work evolved over a period of 34 years. Begun in 1972, it was subsequently reworked many times until it reached this state in 2005. First inspired by the body type amd poses that emerged in the fashion industry the late 1960's, this nude reflects two other preoccupations: linear tension in anatomical form, and European Mannerism ("There is no true beauty that has no strangeness in its proportions.") Ultimately this figure (and other female nudes I have made) is a manifestation of the Anima, Jung's archetype of the feminine embedded in the male psyche.
